The movie is a mixture of comedy, crime, drama, mystery etc. I know this statement will confuse you in judging the movie. But, seriously I found the presence of all these elements in it. A movie worth watching. The script of Volver has the element of multifariousness. The movie moves in a great flow.

The things which are to be appreciated about this film is that, the way they have shown some grevious scenes in very a soft way will definitly suprise you. The whole movie reflects the life of Raimunda (Penelope Cruz), a young mother who goes to their superstitious village with her daughter Paula and her sister Sole to visit the grave of their mother and aunt Irene, Who died years ago in a fire accident with her husband. Downfall; April 1945, A nation awaits its downfall

During the time of my internship in L.V.Prasad Studio, Chennai. I got a chance to see this astounding movie. The movie has changed my thinking about Adolf Hitler. The movie is in German language. The way each character is drawn is simply amazing.

The movie is fully shot in limited locations which clearly depicts the crisis faced by the Nazis during the end of world war II. Oliver Hirshbiegel, the director of the movie has done an amazing job. This movie has undergone lots of controversies because this is one of those very rare movies which has showcased Hitler and his men as human being and not just as evil.

The whole story is about the last 12 days of Hitler narrated out of the sight of her young secretary, Traudl Junge. The movie clearly shows the tensions among the Nazis in those last 12 days. In April 1945, Germany faces serial attack by the Russian army. Even in that crisis, Adolf Hitler proclaims that Germany will achieve victory. As, Hitler finds that all his hopes are fading in smoke. Hitler still orders his men to keep fighting.

The movie amazes the patrons by some sequences, in which some men pledge to go to die with their Furhur. after watching this movie, you will admire Hitler in someways. Though he was inexorable, but still there are many things inside him which truely makes him a leader. The scenes of Hitler discussing with his men, about the fastest way to die will really stuns all ur emotions.

Bruno Ganz who played the role of Hitler has done a majestic job in the film. His body language in this movie simply amazing. The way the dialogues are written creates a greater impact on the character. The tone used in the film is very different from usual movie.

This movie has won many prestigious awards and has gained recognition world wide. Do watch this great movie and please come forward to place ur comments. Thank you!

Shwaas

After a long time I got a chance to review marathi cinema. Shwaas is one of those few marathi movie which has gained national level recognition. Shwaas is India's entry for the 77th Academy Awards (Oscars) in the best foreign film category. The movie is directed by Sandeep Sawanth, who is quite a known name in Marathi parallel theatre for his 'one-act play'. The movie has won the national award 2004 for 'Best Feature Film'.

The movie is very simple in the account of casting and has followed the traditional style of Indian film making. An emotional journey of a grandfather with his grandson. A thought provoking film which talks about relationships, human spirit and hope. The movie has tried to reflect the difference in thinking of rural and urban citizen of India.

Old man Vichare (Arun Nalavade) and his seven-year-old grandson Parashuram (Ashwin Chitale) live in the village Parule. All is well, untill Parashuram feels some trouble in his eye. Vichare takes Parashuram to city to consult Dr. Sane (Sandeep Kulkarni), an eye specialist who on performing series of test figures out that Parashuram is suffering from eye cancer. Dr. Sane suggests Vichare that he has to operate Parashuram's eyes out to stop the furthur spread to cancer.

Shaken Vichare first refuses to acknowledge the truth about his grandson. But, then agrees for the treatment. But, now Vichare has a great obstacle of explaining his grandson about his lifelong blindness. The story reaches its emotional peak as the movie moves towards the climax. How Vichare is going to explain his 7 year old grandson the truth who is waiting very keenly to go to school and to play? How Vichare is going to tell the truth to Parashuram's mother who is waiting in the village for his son to return?

Awakenings

Awakenings- Movie which is one of those rare movies which holds a special position in our heart. I still remember the night when i saw this movie. We few friends got together in one of my friend's room who bought his new laptop. As the movie started there were few who were bored with those long conversation.

As the movie started moving, everyone's eyes were cemented onto the screen. Tears started
coming as soon as the movie reached the climax. After watching the movie, I was only thinking
about the way Awakenings was filmed and the performance of two legendary actors Robin Williams and Robert De niro.

The whole movie moves around Dr. Malcolm Sayer (Robin Williams) who is the newly appointed doctor at Bronx psychiatric hospital. Here he's put in charge of several seemingly catatonic patients who, under Sayer's guidance, begin responding to certain stimulati. Apprised of the efficacy of a new drug called L-DOPA in treating degenerative-disease victims, Sayer is given permission to test the drug on one of his patients: Leonard Lowe (Robert De Niro), who has not communicated with anyone since lapsing into catatonia as a child. Gradually, Lowe comes out of his shell, encouraging Sayers to administer L-DOPA to the other patients under his care.

But as the treatment of other patient starts, many shocking elements are waiting for Dr. Sayer. The story reaches its peak by taking some emotional drifts. What happened to Leonard Lowe and to the other patients of Bronx psychiatric hospital should remain a mystery as of now. To uncover this mystery, I'll suggest you to watch this highly acclaimed movie.

This movie is based on a true story which enhances the glory of this beautifully drilled screenplay. The movie has showcased the great work of the the director Penny Marshall.
The movie has also succeded in unfolding the acting of Robin Williams and Robert De niro.

Atlast, watch this beautiful movie and enjoy each and every scene of this movie. And pls come forward to place ur comments about this great movie.

Seven Pounds;- seven names, seven strangers and one secret

Last years release, Seven Pounds is one of those movies which has been lauded as the greatest creation. Seven Pounds is the work of the team which created magic on the silver screen by making an emotional kicker "The pursuite of Happiness". Gabriele Muccino, an Italian director who switched to Hollywood by making The Pursuite of Happiness has done an excellent job in the mainstream. The way the movie is drawn is simply amazing. The screenplay has played a very important role in holding the patrons onto their seat.

Will Smith has given one of his career best performance in the character of Ben Thomas. Legends describes eyes to be the index of an actor, which carries all the emotion that an actor communicates. The way Will Smith has compassed, makes him one of the greatest actor of our time.

Ben Thomas (Will Smith) is on a row to change the lives of seven strangers. The seven strangers who are fighting the battle of life to live happily. The motto behind Ben's need to help lies a secret, The secret which brings these seven strangers onto a single thread. The movie takes some serious turns clearly depicting the role of Ben in rustling their wheels of fortune. Story goes on by creating many impact and hardcore twist which will transfix the viewers.

Seven Pounds is an exhibition of emotions. The movie which atlast after watching doesn't remain just a movie. Kudos to the cast & crew of the film. Do watch it and I am very sure that you all will love the movie. And feel free to post ur comments on the film.

City of God

City of God is one of the greatest movie made. The movie is one of those movies that a budding film maker should watch. This movie is one of the best example of screening the story in a different way with little adjustments in the screenplay. Screenplay of this movie is one of the major reason for this film’s success.

The movie talks about realism and reflects the darkness of what actually happens in the lower class quater west of Rio de janeiro. Director Fernando Meirelles has done an excellent work in this movie.
City of God is a sweeping tale of how crime affects the poor population of Rio de Janeiro. Though the narrative skips around in time, the main focus is on Cabeleira who formed a gang called the Tender Trio. He and his best friend, Bené (Phelipe Haagensen), become crime lords over the course of a decade. When Bené is killed before he can retire, Lil’ Zé attempts to take out his arch enemy, Sandro Cenoura (Matheus Nachtergaele). But Sandro and a young gangster named Mane form an alliance and begin a gang war with Lil’ Zé. Amateur photographer Buscape (Alexandre Rodrigues) takes pictures of the brutal crime war, making their story famous.

This movie has won 4 academy for best Cinematography (Cesar Charlone), best Director (Fernando Meirelles), best Editing (Daniel Rezende), best Writing, Adapted Screenplay (Brauilo Mantovani).

Do watch this movie. This movie is the perfect showcase of how perfect should Direction, Cinematography, Editing and Scripting can be done. Don’t miss it.

The Pianist:- music was his passion, survival was his masterpiece…

If one wants to freeze all his emotions while watching the movie, then i must suggest everyone to watch this movie- The Pianist. Roman Polanski’s critically acclaimed direction venture. The movie is based on a true story. This movie has won many awards including academy for best director & best actor for the leading role(Adrien Brody). This movie is a life story of a pianist- Wladyslaw Szpilman in Poland during the world war II. This movie details his survival.

A composer and pianist, Szpilman played the last live music heard over Polish radio airwaves before Nazi artillary hit. There, in poland, Szpilman struggles to stay alive- even when cast away from those he loved. He spent the duration of the war hiding in the ruins of Warsaw and scavenging for food and shelter. Szpilman eventually reclaimed his artistic gifts and confronted his fears, with aid from those sources which he never expected.

The movie has all the elements which will highlight the dark history of II world war. There are many films released, which speaks of World war II. Casablanca :- A real Fresco

Well, people who have great affinity towards film should be aware of “Casablanca“, A real Fresco of all time. It is considered as classic and the most loved melodrama which was filmed in the year 1942. Directed by very talented Hungarian- accented ‘Micheal Curtiz’. This movie has won 3 Academy Award (1944) which includes Best Director (Micheal Curtiz), Best Picture and also Best Writing Screenplay (Julius j. Epstein, Philip g. Epstein & Howard Koch).

The movie is about Expatriate Rick Blaine (Humphrey Boggart), a cynical night club owner in Casablanca, discovers that his ex-lover llsa (Ingrid Bergman) has arrived in Casablanca with her Resistance leader husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid) with the German on Victor’s trail. llsa has come to the club to beg Rick for the precious letters of transit that have come into his possession. The documents would allow Victor to escape Casablanca and continue the fight against Fascism.
The movie flows with many interesting sequences where Rick and llsa face each other in the club. Ingrid Bergman has played with her facial expression in those scenes where llsa meets her love Rick in front of Victor. The expression on her faca takes a rapid change with happiness first on meeting Rick after a long time, to guilty action of leaving him behind. Her acting is worth appreciating.

The movie is like a roller coaster ride, which will be smoth in the begginnig, and then will take rapid twist to give many surprises. The movie has all the elements to fulfill everyones desire to watch a film. So, all I can say is that- Please watch this because it is one of the finest romantic melodrama ever to grace the silver screen. The movie has tried to show that how a man of today’s age (modern age) will survive if he is alone in an island in the absence of technology. Director Robert Zemeckick has used a sports ball as a trope in this film. Throughout the movie Tom Hanks share the whole island with that ball. The ball has been named Wilson, which has been potrayed as a co-artist of Tom Hanks. And later when Tom Hanks make a comeback to his world, he founds many surprises waiting for him. Citizen Kane

Citizen Kane has been lauded as the greatest motion picture to come out of America during the black & white era. The film budgeted $ 800,000 received unanimous critical praise even at the time of its release. This movie was released in 1941. The movie is known for good screenplay. The way the story moves is amazing. The movie is all about a business tycoon Charles Foster Kane. The last word that came out before his death was ‘ROSE BUD’.

Rose Bud becomes the elusive focal point for a plot framework for the movie. And like those shifting, sometimes inverted initial images each person reporter (William Alland) interviews provide a different perspective, a contrasting image of the same man- Charles Foster Kane.
Many critics believe that after this movie, the whole idea of camera positioning changed. There is alternate sequence of past & present, when the reporter starts his quest work to know the role of Rose Bud in Kane’s life. Orson Welles has tried to portray the publishing tycoon William Randolph Hearst through Kane. During the production time of the film William Randolph Hearst wielded his immense power, wealth & influences to destroy the film and Welles himself.
Some may find it difficult to see the old Black and white movie. But I must tell you that, don’t miss to watch this film. So, do watch this movie and please come forward to place your comments here.
Thank you.
